Jon Bellman helps leaders at global companies assess and recover troubled IT, Digital Transformation and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) projects. These projects are inherently risky, require substantial executive attention, along with a fully staffed, qualified, and available client project team.

Jon started Reality Check LLC in 1997 as a consulting business to support this IT project turnaround work. Prior to that, Jon was employed as a management consultant specializing in implementations of MRP software (the predecessor of ERP) for Coopers & Lybrand, Ernst & Young, and Price Waterhouse.
Jon’s book, Escaping Delete – A CEO in the Black Hole, first published in 2012 and revised in 2017, describes the common sources of failure on IT Transformation projects. Written as a fictional case study to anonymize Jon’s clients, Escaping Delete describes several of the project recovery methods that Reality Check employs. The book takes a lighthearted view of the personal interactions that often contribute to a project’s downfall, but those personal interactions are both serious and pivotal in determining whether a project is recoverable.

Jon’s educational background is foundational to his approach. In 1993, Jon earned two Master's degrees, in both business (MBA) and engineering management (MEM) from Northwestern University. In 1986, Jon earned two Bachelor’s degrees, in both business (BS) from the Wharton School and engineering (BAS) from the University of Pennsylvania’s Engineering School.
